I had to look ‘fourcettes’ up. I thought you were referring to fourchettes which are the narrow strips forming the sides of fingers in properly constructed and sewn gloves.
I see everyone using tools but I’m not seeing any Churchi citizen wearing gloves.
Some might wear them as decorations, or to protect the metal from acids or dents, or to prevent leaving recognizable “handmarks” ala the old typewriters when up to criminal hijinks.
But mostly, no. Especially the ones who live by the old ways.
Wow. Wildkat. I anticipated a *number* of problems with acceptance of the Churchians vs the East Churchians (aka Christians). Eyesight was never among them. It’s a side-effect of youth, am I right?
Something lighter and more self-indulgent: During the hiatus between the first story and this one, I spent the summer building up sketches of the people and places.
Lotsa root veg spent time getting their portrait done before becoming stewed or roasted 😀
So somewhere out there are real ‘shrooms from one of the mushroom-hunting books I got that look like the Common Browns (most Churchians), as well as Twist, Kel, and the Sportans. But not exactly. Rory is just a very cartoony button ‘shroom
I took a lot of liberties with the colors as well, though in general, the paler the color, the more deep woods or deep cave the tribe.
The Germ isn’t a bug, he’s a feature!
(Yes, I know they’re probably talking about The Doctor.)

That is a different story-verse where Q is a secret agent among the unwitting cutlery.

Their hands are metal, so they generally wouldn’t need gloves. Believe it or not, this issue caused a major problem with the plotting.

I *almost* read it as Sporran. But that wouldn’t have made any sense.

Well, age is relative, but it’s been a few since I’ve been confused with a youth. 😛
I am mildly dyslexic so words and letters sometimes move around on me. It can produce some … interesting moments.

So, the banner is accurate even in that, east vs/ west. Nicely done!

Love the fringe of beard peeking out from under the helmet. The Sportan must be related somehow to sawgill mushrooms? Lion’s mane mushrooms?
Something darker and more ominous?

I can see the Officially Licensed Halloween Merchandise now and I’m counting up the BitCoin. Yum. Tastes like… err, taxes, with a white-wine sauce…

Almost coffee-spewed – great comments as usual.
For some reason, a notional “Peterson’s Guide to North American Soups, Stews, and Casseroles” came to mind.
