Nothing like a little hands-on exercise to drum the learning into you. Especially if it involves both the carrot and the stick to motivate the learner.
I see the mortar and pestle. My question is this:
Is Kit going to milk cucumbers?
Squeeze them out like lemons?
I can’t imagine how you’d store large quantities of cucumber juice without it going off in a flash. Unless it’s fermented cucumber juice!
Or so salty that it’s brine in which case it’s not cucumber juice any longer.
We can’t show the horror of processing a cucumber. Let’s just say it’s a mostly painless process. We can’t show the milking of the aloe vera plant either; but that’s just because it’s gross.
As for the rest, I’m pretty sure we cover it in the next few comics. I wouldn’t advise anyone to follow us for recipes 🙂
Q is the writer, so he has final say, but in this case the secret ingredient is 80 proof.
Technically, yes, that makes it Tincture of Cucumber, but I have to hand-write the labels.
Though in fairness to Ione, she does have extensive gardens outside the Shady, so, we *could* have had Kit pressing cukes the day before “off frame”, but that is a writer decision.
Zoomed way in to look at the labels. Very nice set of details, including Old Raven for medicinal purposes. The sack of NaCl is in case of slugs, I guess.

Am I overthinking this?

A rash cure joke? How topical.

Exactly! You get us! Unless we’d set our cartoon realm in the Bahamas in which case you’d have said, “How tropical’.

Oh my word, we’re getting balmy all right. It’s a sure sign that your readers enjoy the comics, when you’re kept on puns and needlings.
