What, like mouse furs? That would be the right size for a mushroom.
Squirrel for a carrot.
Rabbit for a potato or eggplant.
I can’t see a sentient vegetable, no matter how clever, going after mink or ermine. Those are carnivores but they’re fast and vicious with teeth that shred and rend and tear. Rabbits are dangerous but not like a mink or a fox.
This is partially answered in the next couple of comics, but it won’t be fully resolved for years, probably.
If you lived out in the woods with lions and tigers and bears, you’d maybe want to find a way to get rid of the excess opportunities for certain death. Minks and foxes are heroes to our not-so-helpless vegfolk. Owls too. Rabbits, raccoons, moles, and the like: deadly. Especially marmots! I’ve had to scrap an idea of three because I look up what the critter eats and realize it won’t work, because diet.
Besides, if the Baptists or Methodists find out we’re drawing raw, naked, vegetables we’ll be in a heap o’ trouble…
Hey, pump the brakes on that. We don’t make fun of Australians here. Every day is like a ’50s horror movie for them, and they have the alcohol consumption to show for it.
Oh, wait a minute. Kiwis. Those are the ones from New Zealand, right? New Zealand is to Australia what Canada is to the USA. Sorry about that. They could possibly be kiwi skins.
If you really want to wade into this area of contention, discuss the origins of pavlova.
It’s the best dessert ever! Pillowy, marshmellowy meringue with heaps of whipped cream and fresh fruit. Yum. That doesn’t stop those people at that end of the world from arguing about who came up with the idea first and then did it best.
Fur is quite an indulgence, after all? :-))
Still no raccoon.

There was definitely a raccoon in the last comic.

In fact, there’s a raccoon in *this* comic too…

Yes. Part of it. There’s a bit in panel one and in the bottom right corner of panel two.

Furs?! Vegetables wear fur coats?

I’m voting that they’re kiwi skins.

Kiwis look a lot better on the inside than the outside. The fur is …. not nice.
Peach skins would be nicer for a fur coat. Sleek and buttery.
