It isn’t easy coming of age in the modern era. Young Millenials begin their adult lives by indenturing themselves for important-sounding degrees, like a dual Bachelors in Art History & Creative Writing, specializing in the Swedish Renaissance Era, with emphasis on early feminists. This is much more tricky than it sounds. Imagine translating Shakespearean English into the equivalent-era Swedish and account for the fact that “feminists” were called “women” and you begin to see the challenge. Continue reading →

Codex purchased tickets long ago for the Emerald City Comic Con, held last weekend in Seattle. We loaded up the family vehicle, packed a reluctant Glyph into the back seat, and drove in to the big city on Saturday. Sadly, our tickets were for Sunday only. Continue reading →

Blast_From_the_Past_GMICH_Casablanca_MansplainedWe came up with our “Great Moments in Cinema History” as a repeatable way to contrast the ridiculousness of political correctness with situations in the past. The requirements are pretty clear: the movie scene has to be well-known and the lines have to be succinct enough to substitute SJW claptrap to make a point. Feel free to toss ideas into the comments, we’ll give credit if we use them!

We’ve also toyed with “Great Moments on Television” and “Great Moments from Literature,” although we haven’t run with any strips yet. Frankly, there are so many great movie scenes we can ruin for you, we haven’t felt the need to go further. Maybe in a few years!

Blast_From_the_Past_Mirror_MirrorWe started Tempest in a Teardrop with subject matter firmly lodged in the Hugo Awards/Puppy controversy but intended to branch out into the culture war. This was, I believe, our first strip to venture there. It also led into the concept of “extra explanatory posts” which relate to the strip.

The follow-up post featured Terri raising awareness on the plight of sporks, Making Words. Q’s writing skills have improved since then.

If a single invention can symbolize a given era, ours would be the selfie. Selfies are possible because of advancements in computers, processing, storage, optics, and conceit. Better stick technology, involving space-age plastic and velcro, is the glue that makes it all work. Continue reading →
