Fellow cartoonist Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, has written a book called How to Fail at Everything and Still Win Big. Despite containing so few cartoons, I read it and immediately started to reap the benefits of his wisdom. In fact, this opening paragraph is a testimony to the advice he freely gives. For $9.99 eBook format, anyway. We’ll circle back to this opening. Continue reading

The television show Bones aired “The Murder of the Meninist” last week. Buzzfeed found the episode problematic, because the issues raised by the Men’s Rights Activists in the show were neither sufficiently debunked nor were the feminists portrayed in a flattering enough manner. Normally I’d move on to the next story, but, as a former viewer of the show, I was intrigued. Continue reading

Our daughter Glyph has read Rust cover-to-cover at least five (“Six, no, seven–“) times since I brought it home Saturday night after work as a potential “book talk book.” Continue reading

It isn’t easy coming of age in the modern era. Young Millenials begin their adult lives by indenturing themselves for important-sounding degrees, like a dual Bachelors in Art History & Creative Writing, specializing in the Swedish Renaissance Era, with emphasis on early feminists. We came up with our “Great Moments in Cinema History” as a repeatable way to contrast the ridiculousness of political correctness with situations in the past. The requirements are pretty clear: the movie scene has to be well-known and the lines have to be succinct enough to substitute SJW claptrap to make a point. Feel free to toss ideas into the comments, we’ll give credit if we use them!
We’ve also toyed with “Great Moments on Television” and “Great Moments from Literature,” although we haven’t run with any strips yet. Frankly, there are so many great movie scenes we can ruin for you, we haven’t felt the need to go further. Maybe in a few years!
Tempest in a Teardrop is currently on hiatus and will resume our normal M-W-F publishing schedule starting April 11!

If a single invention can symbolize a given era, ours would be the selfie. Selfies are possible because of advancements in computers, processing, storage, optics, and conceit. Better stick technology, involving space-age plastic and velcro, is the glue that makes it all work. Continue reading
