Celebratory greetings. You may or may not have noticed: we have our own web domain! You can find us at https://tempestinateardrop.com. That saves 10 extra letters when typing in our web address. That’s a productivity gain of 25%!

We suggest spending that time wisely: Check out the new Archive (still being worked on) and read our comics they way we always meant for them to be read: on your device displays. No more back scrolling to find old story arcs. Now simple clicking is all you need. We’ve even removed the alt text we put over each comic (it now appears as a caption in the archive), and included a link back to the original post where it first appeared. You can also search the archive in a number of ways. Continue reading →

Spork Prophecy: Part Two

Welcome back! In part 1, I described some common tricks the pundits use to make their predictions appear accurate after the fact. I won’t be using any of those tricks for my predictions. There are two reasons for this. First, I don’t have an army of pundits backing me up. The self-reinforcing nature of pundits accounts for over half of the perception that they are all geniuses. Second, I am a humorist on the internet. Sometimes people laugh at the things I write. Playing the fool is an honored tradition. Besides, when I am wrong I will get to write a post berating myself, and that’s considered “easy content” in the blogging world. Continue reading →

Predictions. Prognostications. Fortune-telling. Prophecy. Whatever you want to call it, a significant number of people from commentators to commoners and bartenders to bookies want to know what the future holds. Nobody wants this more than the pundit class. Continue reading →

Today’s boring civics lesson is brought to you by everyone crying, “Why can’t we have a third party?!?” Please use your whiniest six-year-old voice to say that quoted part. Nobody born prior to 1975 should be asking the question. If you were born later, got to attend our stellar public school civics courses, and wonder the same thing: good on you! Intellectual curiosity will always be rewarded at Tempest in a Teardrop.

You may be wondering about my qualifications to write this post. I am a cartoonist. May I ask what qualifications you have as a reader? Continue reading →
