The Spork Speaks

Winter finally stopped teasing us and dumped 6″ of white fluffy happiness on our doorstep Sunday night. The joy began at 10:30pm, when Glyph’s school messaged that they would be closed on Monday. “They can’t take that back, can they?” asked a cautious but hopeful Glyph. “Nope,” Codex said. The Spork Speaks

The 2016 United States Presidential election is finally, mercifully, nearing it’s conclusion. It’s mostly over, except for the inauguration ceremony and the rage. We at Tempest in a Teardrop are all about the healing, so we are hopeful that social justice-types will take our sincere advice to their coffee-bean-sized hearts. Continue reading →

Stardew Valley is a psychological experiment masquerading as a computer game. There is so much content that I’ll be breaking this review into three parts. This is Part 1: Game Basics. Continue reading →

The Spork Speaks

Once again, Christmas is upon us. This seems strange because I swear the last one happened just a couple of weeks ago. What a difference an election year makes, eh? And of course, controversy surrounds the season. Yes: I am referring to the present-wrapping divide from which many families suffer. Continue reading →

The Spork Speaks

Today’s post is late because it appears at menofthewest.net. Yes, that’s right, we managed to sucker someone else into publishing our inanity today. It’s a list of ten common mistakes new gun owners make. Well, okay, nine mistakes and a great tip for planting watermelons.

The Spork Speaks

tuesdayYou know how you woke up yesterday and said, “Today I have to finish the comic strip for Friday, write a post entering The Germ in a writing contest, prep for a really important meeting on Wednesday morning, and do something that will actually pay some bills”? Your specific list might not match mine.

Then Tuesday laughs at you, and says, “Good luck!” in that condescending, sneering voice that Tuesday always uses. Continue reading →

The Spork Speaks

Sometimes after a forest fire we get pictures of cougars befriending fawns and fawns befriending cougars as they cohabitate in cuteness in the wildlife burn recovery ward. These pictures capture our imaginations because if two animals who normally try to eat each other in the wild can manage to find peace and friendship, there might be hope for humanity.

We’re living in a massive political forest fire. If you thought that electing Donald Trump would put it out, you are wrong. Continue reading →

Choosing an Arch-Nemesis

The Spork Speaks

The decision to pick an arch-nemesis is not one to take lightly. As you work to defeat them, you will study their knowledge and philosophy, and absorb their thinking into your psyche. It is how the “know your enemy” part of the “know your enemy, know yourself” portion of Sun Tzu’s Art of War military philosophy works. By the way, Sun Tzu would make a terrible arch-nemesis for anybody today, because Sun Tzu died around 500 years before Christ was born. You do not want to absorb the essence of a decaying corpse via an intimate arch-nemesis relationship, or you will end up like George Soros. His arch-nemesis is Machiavelli.

The Spork Speaks

Some people are pitchfork people. They like the heft, the balance, and the soothing calm that comes from polishing evenly-spaced sharpened tines. Pitchforks look cool. They are a tool of the people, organically working the land, who are unjustly set upon by legally-elected thieves and sheriffs. The cartoon-like leap-n-butt-grab is as humiliating as it is effective, as pitchfork-wielders drive miscreants before them, the way that God intended. Continue reading →

The Spork Speaks

From a recent official Tempest in a Teardrop Book Club Irregulars meeting transcript.

Q: Christmas is rapidly approaching, and rather than recommend useless items such as the “I’m With Her Election Night Victory Commemorative Boxcutter,” I think we should focus on books, video games, or movies we like and think our readers might be interested in.

Codex: Good idea! We should start with the Rachel Griffin books by L. Jagi Lamplighter.

The Unexpected Enlightenment of Rachel Griffin (Books of Unexpected Enlightenment Book 1) by [Lamplighter, L. Jagi]
