As Codex mentioned last week, I had a funeral to attend this weekend. This meant traveling to Oregon to a medium-sized town which happened to have the perfect storm of civic events being held. Almost every hotel & motel was filled, and remaining rooms were being sold for exorbitant fees. The managers weren’t negotiating, either. Continue reading

Codex here: Q has a funeral to go to so he’s skipping this week’s Thursday post.
So I’m taking the opportunity to kick Facebook around a little. As you might guess from the title, I loathe the platform with fiery hatred of a thousand burning suns. Q thought I was being unfair and a social media dinosaur. Since I’m not a big fan of Tumblr, Instagram or Twitter either, (and don’t get me started on Pinterest—! Gah! So much dislike!) I thought he had a point. Maybe Facebook would work for Tempest in a Teardrop.
Hahhahahahajahahahahahahahahaha
Yeah.
Seriously, it seems as if Facebook is eating our comic. Before we got on it, he could tell if we’d done a comic that didn’t go so well. This whole comic-ing thing is a learning curve for both writer and illustrator, and getting a great yawning chasm of nothing where we used to get feedback is a big energy sink. As far as we can tell you have to pay the Beast with eyeball time (LOTS) and or money if it’s not going to disappear you.
Is there a way to actually connect on the thing? I’d say “no,” but maybe you readers who use and or like it (I find the latter hard to believe, but hey, it takes all kinds) can let us know what we should be doing?

We finally caved and now have a Facebook page.

We were tired of being told in email that we have more friends there than we think. We’ll find out if that is true. We’re also tired of hearing about how all the cool kids get banned, and want in on the action.
You can join us in our madness by “friending” us. We’ll (and by that we mean Quizzer) will be “friending” people too, especially if they leave interesting comments. Is it empowering to Like, Love, and Wow comments, in a way you just can’t do on Twitter? Quizzer is going to find out.

Celebratory greetings. You may or may not have noticed: we have our own web domain! You can find us at https://tempestinateardrop.com. That saves 10 extra letters when typing in our web address. That’s a productivity gain of 25%!
We suggest spending that time wisely: Check out the new Archive (still being worked on) and read our comics they way we always meant for them to be read: on your device displays. No more back scrolling to find old story arcs. Now simple clicking is all you need. We’ve even removed the alt text we put over each comic (it now appears as a caption in the archive), and included a link back to the original post where it first appeared. You can also search the archive in a number of ways. Continue reading

So, I’m stuck in a lecture on music librarianship, and the gent doing the presentation is explaining all the different types of heavy metal. Including something called “death-metal” and did you know that there’s early music symphonic-cross-over death metal? Yep.
So, I was doodling, ponies, the way you do, and I thought: I wonder what death-metal Bronies would look like.
Here you go.
